Portable Healthy Food Snacks

If you frequently travel for work or leisure, you probably already know that eating healthy on the road (or in the air) can be challenging. Maybe you’ve already decided that you won’t order lunch at your layover, and you won’t indulge in the carb-loaded continental breakfast at your hotel, but you’re still wondering what to pack in your carry-on or suitcase. Check out this list of packable, portable, healthy foods and products that will help you stay on track:

  • Apples
  • Bananas
  • Beef Jerky
  • Protein Bars (Kirkland brand are tasty!)
  • Quest Bars
  • FitCrunch Bars
  • Epic Bars (basically a bar of jerky)
  • Enlightened Broad Bean Crisps (healthier salty snack – available as individual packs from Costco or larger bags from GNC)
  • Almonds in moderation
  • Protein Powder – put individual scoops in Ziploc bags, mix with water or milk, and shake vigorously
  • Individual packets of plain, instant oatmeal and a microwavable dish (pack stevia and/or cinnamon for more flavor)

If you can pack a small cooler:

  • Cooked Turkey or Chicken
  • TruGrill Chicken Strips (Costco)

  • Slices of Deli Meat
  • Salad with chicken, dressing on the side, heavy toppings underneath and lettuce on top
