DJ has been into fitness his entire life, starting young and participating in every sport he could from soccer to wrestling, baseball, football, and lacrosse. He became hooked on strength training from the time he first stepped into a weight room at 13 and fell in love with the sound of clanging iron and sweat.
DJ mixed that love of exercise with athletics and it paid off, when he received a scholarship to play NCAA D2 lacrosse at Florida Southern College, where he received his degree in Exercise Science. Following school, DJ accepted an internship with the University of Denver working with athletes of all skill levels and ages, including NHL, MLS, and NCAA All-Americans.
DJ returned to Grand Rapids in 2016 for surgery to repair a torn ACL. During the rehab process, he fell back in love with the journey of preparation and began to train local youth athletes to help them improve their game. When not working in the fitness industry, DJ is the Assistant Coach for Michigan State University’s Men’s Club Lacrosse team and spends his spare time taking a yoga class, playing video games, or being lazy on a lake.
