Breakfast Tips

Is breakfast really the most important meal of the day? Yes and no. Spoiler alert: no meal is the most important meal of the day. Having well rounded, nutritious meals for breakfast, lunch, AND dinner with healthy snacks in between is vital to our body’s well-being.

Breakfast literally  means breaking the fast we had overnight; it replenishes your supply of glucose, provides essential nutrients to keep your energy levels up throughout the day, and helps to jumpstart your metabolism.

Along with breakfast every day you might want to consider a multivitamin to gain essential vitamins and minerals that are necessary for your overall health.

Since we are talking breakfast, below are a few fun breakfast ideas that can keep things interesting and are easy to prep days before, so you have something quick and healthy to grab as you get out the door.

Vegan Overnight Oats

  • 2/3 cup rolled oats
  • 2 tsps chia seed
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk (or any non-dairy option)
  • 2 tsps maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of salt

Mix all the ingredients together in a mason jar. Cover tightly and shake until combined. Place in the refrigerator for at least 2 hour or overnight, add any sort of fruit topping in the morning, and enjoy!

Egg Muffins

  • 1 cup lightly packed baby spinach (chopped)
  • 3/4 cup finely diced red bell pepper and green bell pepper
  • 3/4 cup quartered cherry tomatoes
  • 6 large eggs and 4 large egg whites, beaten
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt & dried basil and oregano
  • optional: feta cheese, avocado, salsa, hot sauce, freshly chopped parsley

Preheat oven to 350 degrees – coat pan with non-stick spray. Combine the veggies and divide evenly throughout the muffin pan (about 2/3 full in each). In a large bowl add in eggs and spices, carefully fill each muffin cup three-quarters. Bake for 24 – 28 minutes and then let cool. Enjoy immediately or place in fridge or freezer for later!
