Starting new year’s resolutions can be easy, but sticking to them is difficult. Try some easy changes to improve your odds of sticking with your resolutions!
1. Drink more water. The average person needs to drink around 2 liters of water a day… what if we made it our goal to shoot for 1 gallon a day? Maybe just try!
2. More veggies. Eat a whole plate or bowl of veggies a day. Sometimes with my breakfast I will throw some broccoli or spinach in the pan and cook it to eat with my eggs, so I get some greens in first thing in the day! If that’s not your thing, try it for lunch or dinner, maybe eat them raw with some hummus but be intentional about eating a lot of greens every day!
3. Movement. Commit for the next 30 days to move and do something every single day. It doesn’t have to be a full workout, it could be stretching on your living room floor, going for a walk outside or maybe it’s 10 push-ups, 10 sit ups and a plank hold?
4. TREAT YO SELF. What is one “treat” you could give to yourself every week? It doesn’t have to be the same thing every week nor does it have to be a food item, but it could be! Here are a few examples: I usually drink black coffee every day but one day a week I will put a fun flavor of creamer in to have something different and be a treat. I don’t often have time for a nap or a lazy afternoon but if I know I have a Saturday or Sunday afternoon free I LOVE to plan a bit of couch and lazy time; it re-fuels me. Maybe for you it’s a doughnut, meeting up with a friend, going to see a movie, shopping (Target run, anyone?), a Netflix binge, low-key time on the couch with your phone, calling a friend… it could be an extra Yoga class or workout that you normally don’t get to take but makes you feel good after. Plan for that “treat” each week so you have something to look forward to, if it is food it may help you to make better choices leading up to it because you know it’s coming! Having some fun and an intentional treat can be a HUGE game changer for better balance in your life!
